Volunteer

Volunteer opportunities

The Cheshire Historic Environment Service promotes opportunities for volunteers. If you would like to get actively involved in archaeology, have some time free during the week and are able to make a regular commitment, then you may be able to take part in our work. No previous experience of archaeology is necessary.

Where to find help

Get involved

If you want to know more about archaeology, find out what archaeologists do, or get involved yourself, contact the Council for British Archaeology, or their regional group, CBA North West, which covers the counties of Cheshire and Lancashire, plus Greater Manchester and Merseyside. Or why not join the Chester Archaeological Society, whose activities include lectures, summer excursions and fieldwork projects.

If you are a budding young archaeologist take a look at the Young Archaeologists’ Club website for details of local branches and membership
